This beautifully, hand-carved Longhair is sculpted by Hopi artist, Virgil Long. In Hopi tradition, the Longhair Kachina is the most popular of all Katsinam. Their purpose is to bring rain to help the crops grow.
Kachina Dolls are very sacred to the Hopi and many other Native American cultures. Each Doll represents immortal spirit beings that bring rain, messages, and control nature. They are given to their children to teach about Kachinas.
